Key Advantages
-
High fire resistance: reinforced plasterboard with a non-combustible classification under Japanese standard NM-1498.
-
Exceptionally low water absorption: up to 5% total water absorption, per the JIS A 6901 test.
-
Improved mould protection: a dedicated treatment that helps limit mould growth in damp conditions.
-
Improved mechanical strength: reinforced plasterboard intended for building systems with high durability requirements.
-
Long-term durability: a manufacturer’s test of a system comprising two layers of 21 mm boards showed, after ten years, continued compliance with the standard’s requirements for bending strength and moisture content.
-
Suitable for protected external systems: can be incorporated in external wall systems with appropriate waterproofing, cladding and ventilation.
-
Use in fire-resistant systems: suitable for incorporation in dedicated building systems according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Uses and Applications
The board is intended for use in building systems requiring combined resistance to fire and moisture, in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
-
Interior walls and partitions: in systems requiring reinforced plasterboard with improved resistance to water and mould.
-
Protected external wall systems: as a fire lining layer within a system that includes a waterproofing membrane and suitable external cladding.
-
Timber buildings: for incorporation in dedicated fire-resistant systems according to the system approvals and the design requirements.
-
Areas with varying humidity conditions: where a board with reduced water absorption is required, while maintaining appropriate protection against water ingress.
Installation Guidelines and Important Notes
Installation in external wall systems
In external systems, install the board as part of a complete building system that includes a waterproofing layer, external cladding and a suitable ventilation solution. The board must not be regarded as a substitute for a waterproofing system.
Fire resistance
Install the board according to the approved system specification, including the number of layers, the type of framing and the fixing methods. The NM-1498 classification refers to the non-combustibility of the board material and does not in itself determine the fire-resistance period of the wall.
Exposure to water
Despite its improved resistance to water absorption, the board must not be used where it is permanently exposed to water.
