Detailed description

Key advantages

  • Very high sound absorption (NRC up to ~1.0)
  • Reduces sound transmission more effectively
  • Fire-resistant – non-combustible (A1)
  • Withstands very high temperatures
  • Does not settle and remains stable over time
  • Moisture-resistant and does not attract pests
  • Suitable for demanding acoustic requirements

Why this product

Stone wool with a density of 80 kg/m³ is designed for projects that require enhanced sound insulation beyond standard solutions.
It is particularly suitable for settings that need better noise control between spaces, such as offices, meeting rooms and studios.

Technical description

ROCKWOOL stone wool is made from natural basalt, which is melted at high temperatures and processed into mineral fibres with an open structure.

This structure enables:

  • Absorption of sound energy
  • Reduced sound transmission between spaces
  • Improved acoustic performance in plasterboard systems

A density of 80 kg/m³ offers a combination of:

  • High sound absorption
  • Improved acoustic mass
  • Long-term structural stability

The product also provides:

  • Thermal insulation
  • Fire protection (Class A1 – non-combustible)

It also does not break down or rot, and is unaffected by microorganisms.

Applications

  • Plasterboard walls (interior partitions)
  • Meeting rooms and offices
  • Studios and music rooms
  • Hotels and public buildings
  • Hospitals and educational institutions
  • Acoustic ceilings
  • Industrial buildings
