Detailed description

Key advantages

  • High sound absorption (NRC up to approx. 1.0)
  • Reduces sound transmission between spaces
  • Fire-resistant – non-combustible (A1)
  • Withstands very high temperatures
  • Does not settle and remains stable over time
  • Moisture-resistant and does not attract pests
  • A common, reliable solution for plasterboard walls

Why this product

Stone wool with a density of 60 kg/m³ and a thickness of 5 cm is one of the most common and effective solutions for plasterboard walls.
It offers an excellent balance of acoustic performance, ease of installation and cost, making it suitable for most projects – both private and commercial.

Technical description

ROCKWOOL stone wool is made from natural basalt, which is melted at high temperatures and processed into mineral fibres with an open structure.

This structure enables:

  • Absorption of sound energy
  • Reduced sound transmission between spaces
  • Improved acoustic performance in plasterboard systems

The product combines:

  • Sound insulation
  • Thermal insulation
  • Fire protection (Class A1 – non-combustible)

A thickness of 5 cm allows standard plasterboard framing to be filled completely, significantly improving the level of sound insulation.

The material does not rot or break down and is not affected by microorganisms, maintaining stable performance for years.

Applications

  • Plasterboard walls (interior partitions)
  • Bedrooms and offices
  • Studios and music rooms
  • Hotels and public buildings
  • Hospitals and educational institutions
  • Acoustic ceilings
  • Industrial buildings

Technical specifications
